C. Patinha graduated in Geological Engineering by the University of Aveiro (UA) in 1994, completed the M.Sc. degree in Geochemistry by UA in 1997, and completed her PhD degree in Geosciences by the UA in 2002.
In June of 2001 began her activities at Geosciences Department of the University of Aveiro as technician, assuming the management of geochemistry and hydrochemistry laboratories. Since obtaining her PhD degree published 45 papers in international peer review journals. C Patinha has also published about 100 papers in National and International Conferences Proceedings. C Patinha has been participating and coordinating several national and international R&D Projects. She is member of the Bioaccessibility Research Group of Europe (BARGE) since 2009 and participates in the 2nd BARGE inter-laboratory trial that is being carried out to validate the Unified Bioaccessibility Method (UBM) and member of the OHM-Estarreja. C Patinha main areas of scientific activity are application of hydrogeochemistry to the exploration of mineral resources, environmental geochemistry and health, urban geochemistry and public health, medical geology, data analysis techniques, spatial modelling, geostatistics and GIS applied to the exploration of mineral resources, hazard assessment in environmental complex systems, environmental risk assessment. Present research interests include research on human bioaccessibility, solid-phase distribution of potentially harmful elements to human health, and study geochemical records of environmental changes: climate changes and human activities.
